SPLICEING FEATHERS

can anyone give me some advice on spliceing feathers, trying to learn but haveing difficulty keeping them even

when you say even, are you referring to the direction the feathers lay off the quill?  If so you need to find a part of the feather where they come off at the same angle.

I've used Mike's approach here with good results.

If you check RMSGs blog there is a tutorial for splicing. This is the most satisfactory method there is.
