I think I want to order an SBD string for my bear super kodiak but have a few questions.

What is AMO,longbow/recurve,# @ draw?
-Would this be the factory 60" recurve 50# at 28"

How do I measure the actual string length?

Contact Pierre by email or PM through this site. He is quick to respond and very helpful, he will tell you what you need to know.

50@28 if you actually draw 28".

Take the string off and measure it pulled tight.

String makers usually want you to twist your string till you get the exact brace height you like on your bow, then take the string off (don't lose any twists doing this) and measure from the outside edge of one loop to the other.  You usually don't need to stretch the string, just secure one loop to a nail or something and extend the string out straight, then measure tip to tip.  This allows them to build the string to your measurement rather than a catch-all AMO length.

Okay, thanks.

No my draw is not 28" its 25 3/4" puts me around 43-45 lbs on my scale which could be a little off.  I don't mind shooting lighter seeing I am starting to have issues with my draw fingers and my bow elbow.

According to AMO, the bow is supposed to be marked 3" longer than the "string master" (steel cable) that puts it at proper brace.  Longbow or recurve, doesn't matter.

AMO string specs state the string should be measured under 100# of tension, except for very light bows then it drops to 50#.

AMO draw weight is marked at 28", measured from the deepest part of the grip plus 1.75"--this is usually the back of the shelf, or very close.

I always measure my stringlength as follows: I string the bow a the proper braceheight. Then I measure the length from loop to loop, where it is in the grooves.
You can also contact Pierre, he is a true gentleman who stands behind his products and always willing to help.He has a lot of knowledge too!

What Tenbrook says. I have bought a few strings from him.  they are prestreached so you need accurate measurement.
