Looking for suggestions on wool coat and pants for the bow season so nothing that's really thick and something that's soft and comfortable.

Thanks Mike

Silent Predator. Good quality wool, reasonably priced and well made for the bowhunter. I have their Timber Wolf shirt jacket, Grizzly lined bowhunting jacket, lined vest and also the pants.

I normally wear a Pendelton wool shirt with the Silent Predator vest and First Lite Kenab pants for early season and then break out the Silent Predator wool coat/pants for the colder mornings.

Grey Wolf Woolens unlined jacket is what i've used the last 10 - 12 years and also use Filson wool pants and filson wool vest. The Filson i've had a few years longer than the Grey Wolf stuff but they both still look new.

I just ordered some First Lite Kanab pants for earlier season. also got a first Lite longsleeve T and that is a nice fitting shirt.

I also use a woolrich wool shirt for mid layer.

Before you buy ANYTHING..... Locate the local "GoodWill" "Salvation Army" or other like "Thrift Stores"!!!

Lots of great deals to be found, with alittle looking! Check out the pants rack. Sometimes you find good actual "Hunting pants" or there's usualy a bunch of 100% wool dress/suit pants to be had for just a few bucks. Also, you can usualy find enough 100% wool sweaters, to layer you through an Alaskan winter!!! A light Merino Wool sweater for a base layer, instead of expensive thermals??? I've picked them up for $2 apiece. Found a brand new, Red&Black plaid, insulated Woolrich Hunting Jacket for my son Tyler a few years ago... $7.99 This years "big find"??? A brand new (almost) pair of L.L.Bean boots, $13.49!!!!!

Find one & stop in!!! You'll be amazed what people get rid of!!!!!
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

I recently bought some of the First Lite erino Wool and now I am a believer!  I still like my outer Hidden Wolf, Filson, Asbell etc. but for bow season I will layer with First Lite base layer in merino wool, followed up with their mid weight hooded shirt and pants topped with a vest.  I can stay warm with this system down to the 30s easily (adding in a hat and handwarmers).

There are cheaper wools out there but man this merino wool stuff is great.
Everything has a price - the more we accept, the more the cost

I agree with the thrift store approach to layers. You can get good wool very cheap. I also like Asbell wool. It was a bit chilly on our opening morning, so I wore the Evening Stand Green. I had a doe look right through me, showing no uneasiness at all. La Clair also has good stuff.

Nothing is wrong with the high dollar clothes at all. It is good, but if you are on a tighter budget, you can still be just as warm for much less.
