After a recent cold snap with a huge front on the way ( cold rain) the pre-rut activity is really picking up.  Bucks are starting to spar with more vigor. Rub lines are really getting worked over and primary scrapes are showing up ... and being checked daily.  I would guess the chase phase is right around the corner.  Grunting and antler tickling might be a good tactic now.

Good luck guys -  it is an exciting time to be in the woods!

Wow, moving right along. I have just found a few scrapes this week, and a couple of rubs.

Bob I had a lot of doe movement thus last weekend but yet to see a buck. My coysi had a good buck following doe. I think you may be right with the front coming after this rain about playing a tune on the antlers in a few days.

That's Great News, I will be hunting between Viola and Richland Center in 2 weeks.

Hope some of the deer are moving in Daylight hours.  They'll probably stop eating the beans that are on our field but the couple neighbors have corn and we have the bedding and food plots   :readit:    :goldtooth:

Cyclic Rivers,

The deer tend to be in the timber more now, find the white oaks and you will be on the deer.  If no white, Burr seems to be almost as good.  The area you will be hunting is a good one!

Good luck!

Bob, I will be on my family farm.  I grew up hunting there.  Lots of great memories. I am really looking forward to sitting in familiar spots and reliving old memories.

Also looking forward to sharing camp with my Dad and brothers.

Of course the possibility of killing a deer is nice too.

I took my first archery squirrel there with my little brother 2 years ago.  Great Morning!

Your Chicken from McDonald's, Tyson Foods, or Perdue Farms spent most of it's life stuffed in a cage with three or four others, occupying a space about the size of a book page...None for me, thanks...

I haven't gotten out but a couple times so far this season, but have seen a fair amount of animals. Last weekend I saw several does and fawns and a group of 7 longbeards, but they didn't come close.

I'm planning on taking off work a few days the end of Oct. & the first part of Nov. and spend some time in the woods.

Good luck and stay safe!

I've heard some rumors of a large buck (NT over 200")killed off Sinbad road. To much corn yet for me to get excited yet 6000 acres where I hunt.
