How many of us TG'rs hunt small tracks of private land? I lost my lease 2 seasons back so I've been hunting public land and hog hunting some farm land( hogs only) ever since. And with Tx being 90 something percent privately owned it's been tough finding something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! So when I stumbled on to a small tract for lease (50 acers) that was reasonable I jumped on it as fast as possible! It's a 16 yr old timber lease sorrounded by hundreds of acers of virgin Timber and was thinned a couple yrs back and hasn't had any one on it in several years. It is grown up very thick in the few open areas and has hog sign at the one small pond on the property. Needs a lot of work and it's going to be really tough hunting this year but next year should be worth the effort!!

I hunt 90 acres in central Tennessee with my closest pals.  Congrats on your new lease, sounds like a pretty sweet property.

I hunt quite a bit on a nine acre spot in Morgan Co. IL.

Scout it and learn where the deer are moving. Put a feeder in a likely spot and keep it full, the deer will find it as well as the hogs. You could probably put two feeders out, one near the pond strickly for hogs and one in another area for deer and hopefully the hogs will leave it alone. 50 acres is plenty if you are the only one hunting it.

90 acres in ND,  120 acres in MN.  Although there is state land around the MN  land , I seldom go on it anymore.

Oh to be back in the era of $1.00 a gallon gasoline.  The  most limiting factor is the  cost of traveling to theses places.

I've got one lease that is only about 60 acres. I killed three deer off it last year and it's also eat up with turkey's. It's a little pricey for no more land than there is but it's in prime country.

I also have about 10 acres here behind the house that I hunt when pressed for time. It doesn't take huge tracts of land to kill a deer. One deer can only be one place at a time...just gotta figure out where that place is.

I have 65 acres that has a lot of deer and turkey. The surrounding properties are hunted but not especially heavy. Since I am the only one who hunts it, it is a good place for me.

I'd rather have 50 acres of high quality land than 200 acres of mediocre.  You'll need to hunt it smart and minimize your impact, but it could be a gold mine!

Went out today and did a little more scouting and man is it thick ! But has good potential. I decided to go ahead and put up a 50 lb gravity feeder and a trail cam by the pond. Picked out a spot on the other side of the property to put up another feeder and a pop up blind for the wife and kids. (Like Rowan suggested) but needs some brush hoggin first though!  Also found a decent trail that runs midway on a small ridge leading within 75 yrds of the pond. Think I'll put up a lockon somewhere on that trail and that'll be MY go to spot when the wind is right. I know I'm getting a late start but better late than never!! ( Hey Whip, I love the backpack!!! )

40 acres and a 28 acre here but there both really thick and I have shot a bunch of deer on both. Don't need big tracts to be successful

My best peice is a 18 acre peice. I can see speedway gas statiob sign from my stand but im 4 for 4 on bucks. Unfortunately not with the longbow, but this years the year!

I hunt my 40 acre farm, which is only about 20 acres wooded, and utilize any public hunting land I can find. The public land is the most fun, tens of thousands of acres of basically unspoiled land to roam. I expect most states are 90% private land, if not more, but 10% of Texas is a L O T of land ! Give it a whirl. Beats sitting over a feeder and the 200 square feet it covers.
