Seeing way too many cotton mouths this year.  I've never wore snake protection but considering a new purchase.  I hunt in areas of deep weeds _ sometimes as much as four feet high and some water.  Done some research very mixed reviews on what works and what does not - I usually wear lacrosse rubber boots.  Would like to hear what some of you recommend before I buy.

I'd look for the ones that keep you from steppin on cotton mouths, just kidding, but not really, I have had a pair of Rockies, for about 10 years, they have never been field tested though, thank goodness, but if a snakes fangs can get through that boot I aint huntin in them woods no more, very thick material. hope this helps, even the humor.

I have a pair of Danner Jackel snake boots that are very comfortable. Comfort and protection is what you want. Most non rubber boots are going to leak some after a couple of years as the stitching stretches. I treated mine with some waterproof spray and they didn't leak last year. Don't know about the protection and hope I don't have to find out.

I have the Danner pronghorns and love them.  Super light and one of the most comfortable pair of boots I have had.  I've used them for 3 turkey seasons now and my only complaint is they do leak in water over ankle deep which is apparently is a reoccurring theme with snake boots.

I have a pair from Cabela's that are reasonably comfortable, and so far they have retained their waterproof quality. I have not been hit by a snake, so I can't say how effective they are. They have lasted a long time, and it appears they should hold up quite a while longer. Price was not bad, either. The only problem I have had is the soft soles. I stepped on a thorn back in the spring that went deep into my foot. Still, I have seen no real benefit in spending big bucks on some of the name brands, unless I were going on on a rugged mountain excursion.

I have the Danner Pronghorns also and they are leaking a little after three years,

Before that I had some Chippewas that lasted over 7 years before they leaked.

I went with the Danner's as a replacement due to their comfort.  They are actually a pleasure to wear.

I wear Lacrosse but truthfully try on as many pairs as you can and buy what is most comfortable. The best snake boots do you no good if they hurt your feet and you leave them in the truck.

I recently bought the Lacrosse Mudlite snake boot.  I hunt pigs in MS in the spring and summer, and stomp around after dark trailing.  They replace a much older Lacrosse snake boot.  These are way far more comfortable and lighter.  I am pleased with them.  Bear in mind I am not doing a ton of walking in them.  Some scouting; some trailing after the shot.

I will say that my Danner Jackals (not the snake boot) are possibly the most comfortable boot I have ever worn.

For me, it has to be rubber during deer seasons for scent reasons.
Most religions teach that you earn salvation by keeping rules. Jesus didn't teach that "good people" go to heaven. He taught that "forgiven people" go to heaven. And He invited everyone, no matter what their past, to come to Him and be forgiven.

What part of TX are you in? Outside of Fort Worth is the Justin boot outlet. They have snake boots.  The Chippewa Snake Boots that sell for over $225 at Cabela's can be had at the outlet for $70.

My Rocky waterproof lace up tall snake boots have served me well for going on 3 years.  I'm still alive and I hike through some pretty thick crap and lots of swamps  :)   They are pretty simple, but have proven quite comfy and surprisingly quiet in the bush.

I have a pair of Muck snakeboots that have served me well the past 4 years. They havent been tested(by me anyway)but I really don't care too! They are 17", waterproof and not to heavy.
