How do you all clean broadhead and field point ferrules of old "ferrule-tite"?

I've been doing a lot of point removals and replacements and can't get them seated well with all the old adhesive clogged in them.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick replies. Dave, some have so much in them that they won't seat all the way down on the taper!

Also bear in mind that different points/broadheads have different seating depths.  Recently decided that some of my arrows shot better with 100 grain points than 125 grain points.  Removed all the 125 grain points and discovered that I had to trim about 1/8" off the taper to get them to seat.

I use a glue on adapter split half way down the middle with sandpaper in it on a drill. I also hold the point with a pair of channel locks or vise

If you eat out at Chinese restaurants  when you leave ask for some chop sticks.  They come to a nice point.  Now heat up your field point and use the chop stick to clean the old hot melt out.  Do this a few times and you are ready to go.  At this this is how I do it.

The Whittler

Get your propane going and with pliers hold over the flam until its really hot. Then when you push the point down over the taper it should sizzle and the glue that comes out is burnt.

An other suggestion when you apply your glue to the shaft taper do not put any on the very tip, just the sides of the taper.

2nd on the wire brush from 3R, they do a great job on old glue.
Rob I remember that "How To" used that method until I found the wire brush.
