I tried to get each bow tested with 3 arrows. My goal was to have an arrow at 8, 10, and 12 grains per pound to represent what others may use their bow for. I still have 6 bows to test. 50lb bear grizzly, 45lb bear montana, 30lb martin jaguar, 45lb CTA Red Stag, a custom martin savannah with bamboo limbs at 40lbs, and another 50lb savannah. All bows had cat whiskers.

CTA Red Stag longbow 40lb. Measured 38.3 pounds @28.
296 grain arrow at 176fps.
393 grain arrow at 165fps.
470 grain arrow at 154fps.

Fred Bear Ausable longbow 40lb. Measured 39 pounds.
296 grain arrow at 176fps.
393 grain arrow at 161fps.
470 grain arrow at 156fps.

Martin Savannah longbow 45lb. Measured 46.4 pounds.
368 grain arrow at 181fps.
443 grain arrow at 172fps.
545 grain arrow at 160fps.

Martin savannah longbow 50lb. Measured 53.9 pounds.
443 grain arrow at 195fps.
545 grain arrow at 179fps.
596 grain arrow at 171fps.

PSE wolverine longbow 35lb. Measured 34.75.
296 grain arrow at 163fps.
368 grain arrow at 154fps.
413 grain arrow at 148fps.

What kind of string?  Material, strand count, construction, etc.?

Gatekeeper32

Every bow but the pse wolverine, "kid/lady" bow, have either a 16 or 18 strand fast flight.

The Martins are clearly on top.  Cool deal.

I was very surprised that the CTA bows held their own just fine against the savannah and the ausable. CTA bows feel great in the hand and shoot well with speed on par to the more expensive bows.

Custom martin savannah (bamboo limbs) 40lb. Measured 39lb.
296 grain arrow at 180fps.
393 grain arrow at 165fps.
470 grain arrow at 154fps.
16 strand d97 with 2 inch cat whiskers

How far away is the chronograph?
What is your exact draw length for these tests?
I am really impressed by the difference in the  numbers for the Martin Savannah 46.4# and the 53.9#.
For only a 7.5# difference , the 443 grain arrow has a 23fps spread. That is quite a grain in speed!
Thanks for the good work.
