I may be moving to southern Alabama near the town of Daphne on Mobile Bay in the next few years. Im getting ready to retire and my son is moving there for a new position. How is it down that way for bowhunting and fishing etc? What say ye?

Hello, my brother lives in Foley and loves it. He loves to fish and hunt and is able to do so there all the time. Every time we talk he is trying to get me to move down there.....alot of hogs, deer and fish grace his dinner table  ;)

Foley is right down where I may be. It looks like there might be plenty of opportunities down that way. I bet it dont snow much either..lol.

I know it was pretty cold down there for a few days last winter.... I was sure to chuckle when he told me. He doesn't miss winters up here at all  ;)

Plenty of game down there.  Lived in Mobile for four and a half years, would love to move back.

Great location for hunting. Baldwin county has the Perdido River WMA bordering the Fla line [17,000 acres].
In mobile county there is also WMA's.
North side of mobile in Saraland has the Jacinto Tract bowhunting only, about 1500 acres.
30 miles north of Mobile in Stockton,Al is the Delta WMA, about 40,000 acres. All public land. Boykin WMA just north of Mobile in Citronelle,Al..18,000 acres.

Here's a link to all the WMA in Alabama

Check out the Alabama forum in this site. I used to leave in Daphne for 3 years and I made very good friends that shoot trad. I am sure they are going to jump in soon.

Welcome to Alabama. We have long hunting seasons and plenty of game. Get you some snake boots. Plenty of good public ground for hunting but there are snakes to contend with.

I live in Elberta, Al. over on the SE side of the county.
There are several good management areas, close by, as mentioned above.
The Delta is mostly accessable by boat.  Plenty of land all over the delta.  Lots of water and critters that crawl of slither.  Haven't ever had any problems, just keep the eyes open.
Lots of good fishing through out the area.
Catch up with me when you get settled.
Several of us in the area and all shoot trad.
