Trad Shoots & Binoculars

The issue arises when a 3D target is set up to trick you. Instead of broadside, it is set up quartering slightly towards you. A true killing shot will give you a 5.
The 12 is way off to the side which no one can really see.
If you are shooting for hunting practice, who cares....shoot for a true kill shot.
If shooting to compete, you better know where the 12 ring is or the bino guy next to you will smoke your score.

I like the k-w-m scoring system. Used it a couple of years ago at the local club and got some weird stares at first,but kill,wound, and miss said it all for me.

         As far as the binoculars go I rarely leave home without my 6x32's. Here in Pa. there are antler restrictions and I would rather be safe than sorry.

I don't need binoculars. I am a traditional archer. I know all kills are at the normal place, so I focus on that spot.
As for rangefinders; I am a traditional archer. So knowing the distance wouldn't change a bit. I just aim and release.
I think binoculars or rangefinders don't  belong on a3d shoot, they slow things down indeed.

As for people who cheat during a 3d shoot: I hate them. Alas, more and more archers tend to cheat. They kill our sport!

Like Killy I don't take the scores seriously anymore, my starting point us how well I shoot ( or how poor sometimes   )

Not that it matters to me one bit but to answer your question, the annual Kentucky Tradfest hosted by the KTBA prohibits the use of binoculars at that event. Spectacular shoot and I couldn't care less about allowing the use of binoculars or not. Sometimes I take binos to 3D shoots that allow them and sometimes I don't.

Binoculars are allowed at all TBoT tournaments, but shall not be used once the shooter is at the shooting stake. No rangefinders allowed.
