The production head will be SS. The test heads I have are hardened steel. I don't know the Rockwell but I do know a file will not touch it.

Info: proto type- toolsteel O-1, swedish mfg. Rc 46-48 - screw in only ,
poduction type
steel grade SS440 series or SS 17 4PH,  no file, stone or diamond to
sharpen, edge should come up very easy and last, enjoyed the read,

I'm guessing that this broadhead will be useful for those shooting bows around 50 to 60 pounds who want a really heavy arrow, especially one with a high f.o.c. balance; they have some stiff carbons still to choose from. I'm also guessing, however, that for those shooting 70 to 80 pounds, it may not be viable, due to increasing spine too much, especially at longer draw lengths; and if it is still an option, then it won't be that much different in weight to what a fellow might already be shooting with 125 grain adaptors, and 160 or 190 grain broadheads...but at least it would give that same weight in a three-blade option for those so inclined.

I would buy them right now if thew were available. I'm shooting this weight now, just getting there a different way. If you need someone to test them on South American critters, I'm ready.

A box was on the table when I got home tonight.
5 stunning beauties were neetly packed in it.
These are prototypes made from steel, so the stainless ones will be even more impressive I bet.
I did not have time to shoot them so I spent some time putting an edge on them and did a bit of spin testing in the press. They spin perfect.

It is no secret I love heavy heads and high FOC so these are just what I like. 300 grains and they look Tank Tough.

Screwed into a 100 grain brass insert they will be 400 grains of devastation. They are now on my hunting arrows ready for the bush.
A few quick test shots is going to confirm they fly the same as the big 2 blade 300's I took off.I am not expecting any surprises, as I change heads often and as long as the weight is close there have been no surprises in the past.
Time will tell though. I will test shoot them before hunting with them.
I am impressed with what I see so far.
