I have come across some real brown seal skin.  It appears to be a bit longer than other seal skin fur I have seen.  Anyone have any experience with this?  Will it work ok for rest?  Thanks!

BowMIke

My seal skin fur isn't too long, but it is my favorite rest material.

Overspined

I trim the fur down to stubble

If your fur has only been tanned it will be longer than fur that has been processed and sheared. I am using sheared seal skin and it is holding up great and makes for a quick quiet release.  I have been told to put a drop of baby oil on the skin fur every so often.  I have been doing this and it seems to work well.

I have trimmed some down with beard trimmer.

Never had any issue with the longer type fur, basically guard hair but flattens nicely for passage of arrow going over shelf.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Appreciate all of the input.  I am going to give it a try on my bows to see how it works.

I have some on one of my bows. I can tell a difference in it against other materials I have used. Quiet and slick!
