Reverse Handled Longbow Question

What is the reasoning behind a reverse handled longbow other then it feels good. Just wondering.

I think I read somewhere that it puts the pivot point of the grip farther forward in relation to the limbs for more stablity.

Yep there more stable because your bow hand is further forward , harder to torque the bow . regards Perry

I prefer the reverse handle because it helps me shoot better. Can be quieter too depending on the design. I used a Hill country reverse handle take down longbow to win the NFAA unmarked 3d national championship this year. Having the handle in the front takes some getting used to but it's hard to go back once you've tried it.

I guess I've not seen one. I can't picture what one would look like. I don't get out in the public much huh.

I have one that Steve Turay of Northern Mist Longbows made for me and I really like it. It is actually my "Go To" Longbow. I think he calls it the "Whisper" Model now but when I gat mine it was a prototype and in the design phase. Needless to say it is very quiet, unlike any bow I have shot or owned. Hence the name, Whisper!
It does have a higher brace that traditional longbows due to the handle being out of the way and I am sure this contributes to it's smooth, quiet, almost soft feeling shot.

I like them.

I also had a Norther Mist Whisper from Steve Turay. The bow was great and shot awesome but I could not get used to the straight back of the grip. There was no locator at all so I always placed my hand in a different spot until I took a few shots and found the sweet spot on the handle again. Since I sold mine I talked with Steve and he is now putting a locator on the handle of the Whisper. This bow should be awesome now. The reverse handle bows limit the amount of tourqe you put on the bow and just seem to shoot quieter. My dad has one of the original Black Swan longbows before Arvid went to the carbon and it is reverse handle. He shoots is with no string silencers and it is still one of the quietest bows I think I have ever heard.
