When I was a child Dad started me shooting a longbow at age four. He shot a Bear Kodiak and we would shoot together quite a bit. As I got older I started shooting Dad's a kodiak for several years until I finally bought my own bow. Now I'm 44 years old and last weekend was talking to Dad on the phone and ask him if he still had that old kodiak which he replied yes. He doesn't shoot much anymore and asked if I wanted it which of course I replied yes. Will pick it up here in a few days and look forward to shooting that old bow again  ;)

Cool. I wish I still had the old Pearson I played with when I was about 12. Don't even know what became of it.

Pretty excited about it thanks  ;)

Fantastic!! I can't even imagine how cool that would be.  Congrats!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

You will treasure it forever.

My dad took me hunting, but was never truly a hunter.  I think he did it just to give me the opportunity to decide, for myself, if it was something I wanted to do.  In all those years, I never saw dad kill an animal.

I lost him 2009 and have his firearms.  They are truly treasures that I will not get rid of even though I don't use them.

Enjoy your time with your dad.

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

It's nice to have old friends. Good luck and good shooting with it!

That's awesome to have a bow past down to you with many memories and stories tied to it.
