Hello all,

I am looking ahead to next year and am thinking of hunting the Garden State.  I have a chance to hunt in the Mays Landing area.  There are 2 properties, about a mile apart, but one is in DMZ 26, the other in DMZ 46.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Is one better than the other (being a mile apart, I wouldn't think so, but...)?

How is deer hunting in that area in general?

I don't know about the rules, so is it easy to get an antlerless tag there?

Any info or advice would be very much appreciated.

Hope the new year is going well for everyone.

Be well,

Alex

Go on the NJFG web site and down load the compendium.

You will find that Jersey has been geared towards quantity not quality .Not familiar with those zones but some zones have unlimited antlerless tags . Take MCS 's advice and look up the site .

I live  about 10 miles from Mayslanding. What you want to do is scout it out. If you do some minor improvements to the area( food source and posting, ect.) You can better your chances.

Feel free to pm me and we can talk on the phone, an maybe get together and hunt.

Been hunting zone 25 and 65 area for 40 plus years, can point you onto the deer here on public ground, maybe get a chance at them feral pigs too.

Both of those zones have a 3 point on one side minimum for bucks, and a two deer limit during the fall, permit, and winter bow seasons, one of the two can be a buck.

Only some zones have the restriction of points(probably due to the "brown its down" mentality of some) this helps you get a better buck in future hunts in that area.

You still need to do the footwork.
