Hi, I'd like your recommendation for a Canadian Bear Outfitter who understands the Traditional Archer.  I would like to hunt over bait.

Thanks

Not sure that an outfitter really needs to have an understanding of traditional bowhunters...they need to understand their bears...I shot a bear at 10 yards with a recurve while working for an outfitter in 2012...the baits are set at 20 yards so we simply put on empty grease jug at 10 yards...that did not work because the first bear grabbed the jug and ran off with it so I just moved the plastic bait barrel to 10 yards and shot my bear when it came to the barrel...4 hours in the tree stand, two bears in and one killed

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Bear Track outfitters in Manitoba does a GREAT job and is very archery and trad archery accommodating.

I am headed back for the second year in a row.

No doubt Ryan at Stickflingers runs a great operation as you will note from the fact he is booked through 2017...great outfitters with great prices always are

How about Russell Outdoor Guides?

Your question is open ended. Depends on what you are looking for in a bear killing. Sit over bait, spot and sneak, hunt from a boat,  follow dogs,  spring, fall, mountains, boreal forest, drive in, fly in, color of the bear.  Lots of choices and one of the fun things is doing the research of the outfitters so you end up getting the most out of your experience.  Most every baited outfit will set you up for a 15 yard shot if that's what you want. Tom Phillips sets stands up for super close shots on the Bear Quest hunts.  7 feet high and 5 yards to the bait on some stands.  Jeff Lander of Primitive Outfitters does bow only spot and stalk in BC and has a trad week the 1st of June. Homer Ocean Charter in AK doesn't guide but you sleep and eat on the boat along the  Alaska coast were you try and sneak up on the bear.  Lots of choices out there.

I'm sure IBOW will add to this tread since he has been to a number of places and had a nice article in Bear Hunter Magazine last month.  Chucks been around a few bait piles.

I've been to Bear Paw Landing 5 times in the last 8 years and came home with 3 bears.  It is in Ontario..just outside of Dryden.  The owner is a trad only bowhunter and all stands are 15yrds and under from baits.  Good prices and a good people!
