Wanted to see what everyone prefers for there cold weather clothes. I like wool but there are some heavy fleece garments out there. What do ya'll think?

Fleece and polyester convert as of this past season.  Getting too old to drag wet wool around on my back and legs1

I use both, merino wool base layer, wool sweater, fleece vest then the top layer depending on the temps.

I have and use both depending on WIND.... Less than 10MPH wind and not bitter cold <20 degrees then all wool. If windy and or bitter cold then I top layer with my windprooof fleece over my wool layers.

If I had the $$$ I would buy some Gray Wolf Woolens top layers with wind liners. I do have a GWW vest that is insulated and lined and I LOVE it. However, sometimes my arms get a little cold cause I do not have a thin windproof mid layer to wear under it yet..... That will be my next purchase along with some wool windproof pants. JMHO gents......  :coffee:

Same as others: I use both. Love wool, but newer fleece is lightweight and very warm with my silk under garments.

Gotta add some down!  Wool, with wind block of some sort, more wool, and down!  Toasty

Not that cold down here in Texas, mostly, my Asbell pullover does the job.Under Armour and my King's Camo and my Asbell...that's my layering system.
Longbows, you see, do not make mistakes...there is no tuning to distract attention from the task at hand or provide excuses when arrows wind up in places we did not ask them to visit.

I prefer the sillence of fleece, but the warmth of Merino wool insuated underwear.  I have one heavy set of fleece I will not use, if there is any possibility of getting into cockle burrs!      :banghead:

I might add that the heavy fleece is over 30 years old and is the original Trebark pattern.

after much experimentation, i have settled on Merino wool underneath, and fleece on the outside.

Both have their place but wool is number one in my book!!

I like my wool. I have a few fleece pieces but they're mostly lighter pull-over's to go under the wool

Something else that has not come up here fellas..... If ever in a fire you would definitely want to be wearing wool and not fleece. Firemen call fleece, "shrink wrap ".
