I will typically harvest the first 'full size' doe that I see then hold out for a week.  As the season wears past mid November then my size for a buck seems to shrink with the amount of time left in the season.   I try to tell myself not to harvest an animal that I won't be happy with...but to let him/her grow up.  I can't wait for retirement and more time in the woods!!

I quit work about 25yrs ago..so don't many get free passes from me..unless they're fawns, yearlings, does with fawns or yearlings, small bucks and I only got one tag and no big deer..or a lot of other reasons. But, sometimes I shoot anyway...except for the fawns.

Not retired and probably never will(self-employed). I've been passing deer for the past 15 or so years and here in Va. we can kill 2 deer a day starting the 1st Saturday of oct. till the last Saturday of march, w/ most of the season being rifle season. Seen a lot of those 2.5/3.5 bucks that I pass in the back of another's pickup. Sure makes hard for a fellow that's hunting the next age class of deer.
