I always wear a fleece balaclava when hunting. I love it. I do the opposite of what most everybody else does. I pull the bottom of the balaclava up over my mouth and nose when getting ready to shoot - only my eyes are exposed. I do tie the pull strings back out of the way. I also practice with my balaclava and my hunting gloves (bow gloves) on.

I use a heavy fleece balaclava and a knit neck gaiter.  No trouble with the anchor because I pull the balaclava below the corner of my mouth.  With the neck gaiter you need to make sure you bend your neck to get "into" the arrow.  The gaiter tends to make it easy to be stiff and shoot high.

Wouldn't be without my Balaclava. Have a liteweight and a heavyweight. No problems shooting.

do not dismiss the previous comment about fogging glasses-that happens just as you are about to draw on the critter that just started your heart.
Shaving cream on your lenses or commercial stuff is the answer for that, but address it before it is GO time.
Two weeks ago, I just took off my glasses as they kept fogging up.  I should have read this post and got myself back in the really cold weather shooting grooove
