I just bought a Maddog Pup recurve for my 4 year old daughter.  Im in the process of getting some arrows set up for her.  Mike from Maddog recommended 1/4 fur dowels and I now have enough to make 200 kids arrows.  Just going to start with a dozen tipped with 60 grain heads and fletched with 4" pink shield cut feathers.

My question is; do I need to do anything to prep the shaft before I crown and crest the arrows?  I have only experience with carbon arrows so these woodies are new to me.

Thanks, Sam

I like to hit them with 0000 steel wool then seal with laquer then paint and seal again.

Make sure they are straight before you seal them for the first time.

Will the paint adhere to the lacquer?
