I just received a vintage Howatt Super Diablo in mint condition. Serial number is ESD401D. Can someone please tell me the year it was made and the recommended brace height. Thanks.

The "4" indicates the year it was made but it doesn't say the decade.  The Super Diablo started in 1966 so yours could a 74, 84, 94...  The remaining numbers tell the number that bow was in the production year.  If your serial number is correct as you wrote it here you must have the first SD made in that year.

If you could post a photo that would help.  This is my 1975.

My 1975 SD works great at a 7 5/8" brace height.
