Just bought a Hi-speed from a fella on a trad site, should have it in a few days, only thing is no string, rest or side plate. i have some sealskin i can use for rest, also have a Trap feather rest, but maybe just a B-50 flemish twist string? How long for this 54" howatt?

If you get a standard B-50 Dacron, then just order an AMO 54" string. The actual length will be about 4" shorter. The upper loop, when unstrung, should rest at the bottom of the upper limb string groove.

I would wait until you get the bow...not sure the Hi-Speed was ever made in a 54 inch version

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Yes, I have a '72 54" Hi-Speed. 50" dacron is right.

Thanks guys, I haven't got the bow yet, probably thurs. I have made a few self bows and made strings for them, it's been awhile, think I will go in basement and see what I have and try and make a 50" b-50 Flemish string, 12 or 14 strand.  Thanks Dave

B-55 is the better polyester material.  50"-50.5" should work, depending on how you like it braced.

By the time the string stretches out you'll probably find that a 49" string works best.  A feather rest would be ideal.  I use that on my Howatt Hunter and it works great.

Howatt made 54" Hi-Speeds before AMO and after. The pre AMO bows are actually shorter-would be closer to AMO 52/53".

Same goes with the 58" Hi-Speed-my pre AMO one(1961) take an inch shorter string than the AMO-late 1960's one.

This one is a 63.  A 49" string should be perfect.

I have a 68 Hunter that uses the same length string as my 75 Super Diablo (which is marked "AMO") and Bear Takedown.
