Best Way To Start EZY Climb Screw-In Steps?

I use the woodpecker bolts system with a cordless drill but also have the Cranford screw in steps.  What is the best way to get these started without using a cordless and all of the associated noise?

They have such a fast taper I have no problem getting them started.  Some hard trees I do a stab to start.

I fashioned a punch type step starter years ago and it is worth its weight in gold. Punch and easily screw in any tree. While I am screwing a step in the hole I just punched I stick it in the tree above me a little before ready to punch next step hole.

Muddy Outdoors makes a step starter that work great for starting as well as screwing them in and out.  I recently picked one up and ver pleased with it.

Two really good options here guys! Thanks so much.  Now to decide which way to go.  The Muddy looks lighter but bigger than the small punch.

Either way should be better than bruising my hand as I have been doing.

I find the EZ step goes in very easy, even in oaks and other hardwoods.  All I've used for years.

Swing it like a hammer. Put bungee down on screw if needed until started.

That looks good but I do not think it will work for a non-folding EZY.

Cheap enough to try! I think it will the only problem I have ever had is if you swing it hard the step will spin a little. Been thinking about adding a notch. Most of my step are rusty and act like one piece and they work great. The starter TJ shows works great to "start" them just doesnt help with screwing them in. Having both is the ticket. I have been using EZY's for 25+ years.
