Whilst shooting a few arrows in the back yard before taking the "Archery skills test" to hunt on base, I found an effective way to waste about $10. The kick in the pants is I only shot the newly destroyed arrow twice, I fletched the new shafts last night. This was at about 18 yds, with a new bow (to me anyway) that came in on Monday, and I haven't shot a bow in about 5 years. I'll waste a new arrow in exchange for the confidence that it provided.

Thats a great shot, and money well spent.
Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a
difference in the world, but the Marines don't have that problem.

Another reason to only shoot one arrow at a time...although I don't have that problem. Nice shot.

There are much worse ways to break an arrow.

Well, how did the skills test go? Too bad you could not have made that shot at the test.

I remember sound advice given a friend by another close friend who owned a traditional shop in Denver.  Every time my one friend went in to purchase a dozen arrows, Bob would constantly tell him, "Don't shoot groups.".

Looks like a case of a well tuned arrow flying from skilled hands!

It went very well! It was a simple test though. One shot from an elevated platform at about 20 yds, into a 3D target, pass or fail. My first shot was perfect. The game warden said I could shoot another for "practice" with a look of disbelief on his face. That one was about 2" to the right of the first one. He looked at me and said "Well, I guess you can shoot that thing." There's nothing like changing people's minds.
