Silencers changed tuning

Had my new long bow all tuned in . Tied in some wool silencers and when I shoot , the arrows are minnowing . Shoot a bare shaft and it will fly knock rite ( to heavy ) . Took the silencers off and its rock and roll again . This has never happened to me before with any other bows that I have shot in the past . Is this a fluke or has that happened to others as well ? I have to admit this is my first flat bow and all the others were R/D long bows and recurves .

I had the same thing happen to me. The bow came with certain silencers on there,and I swapped them out and had to re tune. Mine was a reflex deflex type longbow.

Absolutely, you are in essence taking performance away from your string when you add weight (silencers). You must tune with your string/brace height/arrows exactly how you plan to shoot them (adjusting along the way to get tuned of course).

Well this was a first for me , I have never seen a difference in a bow before . Kinda puzzled me . I have thought about not using silencers while hunting any way so that's how I am going to hunt this year . I have heard some controversy on the subject of silencers and how necessary they truly are . We shall see .

Well now controversy on here never, LOL. I have never killed a deer with a silencer, an arrow with a broadhead works every time. You are doing the right thing don't Chang anything now. Hunt hard shoot straight and bring home what you work hard for.

It can happen if you are close to borderline in spine.  LOTS of things can happen when you are borderline on anything.  Cut back your silencers a bit..use less material and see what happens...cheaper to try than than buy new arrows.

However, if your borderline now, and all of your equipments gets caught in the rain, you might have issues again.

Reduce the thickness of your side plate material and that will also help take up some of the stiffness!

I learned long ago to put them on before first shot,  I tie 4 small 4strand puffs out of yarn 12" apart top and bottom, dead silence.
