Black Bamboo/Cain..?

I ran into this today. Anyone ever seen it before(I'm sure someone has)I've never seen black bamboo before or heard of it. Is it any good for making arrows? There wasn't a lot of it but I did get a few pieces that I think are about the right size. It was mixed up in the normal stuff I usually run into around here that grows 10'-12' tall, some of this black stuff was that high also.

Try it!
If it doesn't make a good shooting arrow, you can use it for displays. If it DOES make a good shootng arrow, you got some way cool ammo bud!

Boy those would make some pretty arrows. If you ge a big enough stash of them I wouldn't mind trying a couple.

Thx for that link. For being the most popular it's kind of strange I've never seen it before. And from the lack of responses to this post it seems not many others have either. I'll try and get back by there and snatch some more in the next few days.

I wonder if it keeps it's color as it dries?

Like you, I was kinda surprized to read that as I don't see it around here either. I expect it's more popular along the west coast.

I'm serious about trading some rhizomes though. I have several varieties available that make good arrows and fall is a good time to transplant.
