BeechNuts

Took a little scouting trip this morning and found some beechnuts lots of beechnuts looks like a real bumper crop this year.Anybody do any ground hunting around these beech groves?If so when is the best time early season or later???Found some nice setup spots.

Deer will get into them later as a rule.....if the turkeys don't clean them up first. Sometimes the beeches cover such a vast area it's hard to set up with a bow. Keep an eye open for runways that lead in and out of an area with nuts and set up with the wind in your face. Bears love'm also!!

The only time I see deer eat them is when the acorn crop is poor. Turkeys seem to like them all the time. TonyZ

I agree with Tony Z.  Although I have a spot where it seems the bucks like to rub up the beech saplings as well as put a scrape or two under them!

Up North they like them because that's all there is....no Oaks! They are very cyclic also, you have them for a few years and then not have them for 5. Good years are where they are on one ridge every other year and on another just the opposite. Makes for some serious scouting issues sometimes....lol!
