Looking at getting a new daypack after my Cabela's Whitetail pack expired after 20 years of service. What I am looking for is a no frills simple daypack. I've got the back pack scenario covered already, so I don't need anything fancy.
Right now I've narrowed it down to these three:
USMC Arcteryx Assault pack (Gen. 2)
Badlands Pursuit Pack
Duluth All Day Lumbar Pack

Anyone have experience with one of these? I really like the canvas construction of the Duluth, but the price is steep. Also not really sure how well I would like a lumbar pack.
I await your input...

Badlands stuff is pretty good! I have a Diablo and it works well. I think Cabaelas still has a Whitetail pack......
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I'd get a nice fleece bison gear pack.  You can get a simple one or just a bit bigger lost river pack.  That's the one I whitetail hunt with.

I am paying close attention to this thread, because I have always been on the search for the best daypack for me. I quit looking for the perfect pack (I don't think a perfect pack exists, now I am just looking for the one that meets my needs the best...LOL.

Good Luck on your search and let us know what you choose.

I went through a lot of packs and finally picked up a Badlands super day pack that I'm happy with.  Quality pack that's very comfortable.

I use a Eberlestock X2 pack for my day pack. It is comfortable and small, but can still haul a quarter if need be. I had a badlands 2200 but it was to tall for my torso. Good luck, there are a ton of packs out there that would work probably.

I just picked up a badlands super day pack on a classified ad and used it for the last week almost daily. I would not hesitate to get another. Badlands is certainly not a bad way to go. Just hold out and buy on the classified section if possible. It'll save you a few bucks.

I have a horn hunter slingshot I like. Has a water bladder and plenty of pockets inside for your gear. Check em out, I like mine

Bison Gear they are pricey but you will never need to buy another one, so cheap in the long run. I have a huge ElkHunter from Bison Gear and it is by far the best pack I have ever had. Great product and great warranty!! Shawn

Love the Cabela's Horn Hunter Sling Pack W/ attachable Quiver. It is comfortable and stays out of the way. I can slip it off with the quiver easily, for stalking.
