I Just purchased 6 wooden arrows to give them a try. How's the best way to remove field tips. I want to replace them with broadheads. I believed they were glued on with Fletch-tite platinum Thanks

Rob W.

I just use a candle evenly spinning the tip. Then pull and twist with a towel.

Be carful not to over heat the broadhead cutting edges when putting those on. I heat the broadhead ferrul inside and out slowly while holding the shaft taper above. When both are good I spin the head on and check. If it's not perfect give the head some more heat and spin with a towel til its true.

Heat from a propane torch turned as low as you can get it to heat the tip all the while twisting with pliers to get the glue to loosen. Don't overheat or you can burn the wood. Just enough heat to loosen the point.

Use hot melt or similar heat activated glue after that. I just use plain old hot melt glue stick from a craft store with great success. Be sure to use alcohol or acetone to remove all oils from the inside of points/BHs to ensure a good bond. Remember to also true the point with a spin test.

Yep, just heat them a little and they should come right off.  Fletch Tite Platinum glue is for FEATHERS and nocks.  It is a VERY poor (unacceptable) choice for points.  Use epoxy or better yet a "heat melt" glue designed for points.

Are you willing to give up what you are; to become what you could be?

Just hold them above the flames of the burners of your gas stove, smallest position. in such a way that only the last end of the point is in the flames. Turn around slowly, heath them up a little. Then pull them off with a plier. Don't heath them up too long otherwise you might burn the wood.
I did tons like that without any problems.
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

Like the others said.  Heat the field point or broad head and twist it off.  I don't know if many others do this but I switched from hot melt to 5 minute epoxy for all my points and broad heads.  You can still remove points/BH's  with heat.
