Yep, Tom I am getting it bad. Went today checking out my blackberry and raspberry patches, saw a nice buck, wider than his ears with what looked like the makings of a nice 10 point, 30 yds in front of my "rabbit blind", a natural pine blind I planted over 20+ years ago. Have been over 30 deer and several turkeys taken from it. Wife and I are also headed to Maine for our first ever bear hunt, starting Sept. 15th!!

Mudd, you hit it on the head...  shorter days are definitely what i look forward to! I have a primer in the middle of Aug up in NW Ontario...  get to warm up on bears!

Best of luck to you and yours!

Heck,I moved 2 camera's & put a stand up today.
I'll be ready when it gets here but I'm having a bad case of "Smallmouth Bass Fever"..I almost enjoy canoe fishing for them as much as chasing deer & turkey..notice I said "almost"...lol

Like most, it is a year round itch, but there is nothing like the smell of a late August morning in the Black Hills that stirs my emotion.

The first hints of the coming fall.  Some of the ground cover starts turning foreshadowing the leaves.  The coming of elk bugling, antelope chasing, acorns dropping, first skiffs of snow, and the magic of November.

Nine days tell bunnie season. Called two big ones in and thier year old pup, the yearling was being used as a chew toy for three young pups maybe 2-3 months old. Im starting to foam at the mouth.
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Tom, just yesterday my 9 year old son said he wants to shoot a buck in velvet. I told him we need to be very nice to "Uncle Tom"....     ....just sayin"....

This is going to be my first season using trad gear and i am about to die waiting on deer season to roll around. Tippit, your post made me drool. Looks like you got it going on sir. I went out today and put out the trail cam too. Hope to see some nice ones.
