I have always shot off of the shelf and I was wondering if any 3 under shooters found shooting off a rest to be easier to tune and quieter on your bow?  Right now my bow is shooting fine. just something I have been pondering lately.

Never tried it but don't need to. Mine shoots just fine off the shelf and isn't that much louder or anything.
Now then, get your weapons, your quiver and your bow and go out into the open country to hunt some wild game for me.- Genesis 27:3

I never had a problem shooting 3 under off the shelf. Easy tuning as well as quiet. Its all based down to personal preference to me. I'm more accurate shooting 3-under so that's what I stuck with. Its what I'm comfortable with.

Shooting off the shelf works good for me, I think you can fine tune a little better off a good rest. I shoot more accurate with three under.

I have done both off the shelf and off the rest with 3 under with excellent results.

Currently, I am shooting off the shelf and do not plan to make any changes in the future.

If possible, you probably should try both on the bow that you intend to shoot to see what works best for you and your style.

I shoot off the shelf with no issues.  I did put a rest and plunger on my titan when I owned it and it was pretty nice, arows were lasers. Anyways  dont find any of my bows really loud as long as the arrows are tuned

I have tried both with no discernible difference, however that was shooting feathers. I think the big advantage for a rest would be if you wanted to shoot vanes.  I don't so I stick with the shelf... One less thing to break or go wrong.

I get great flight and easy tune off the shelf shooting 3 under so see no need for the rest unless I want to shoot vanes.  Now split is a whole different issue, and a rest is a big help there.

i have had more luck with the rest and 3-under.  every bow has been different for me.  just need to "play" to find what each bow likes.

I've switched back to split finger, but did shoot 3 under for several years.  I never wanted to put a rest on a bow, but I did put a piece of a match-stick under my velcro rest placed right at the deepest part of the grip.  On my center/beyond centershot recurves I'd do the same thing vertically alongside the riser under the strikeplate.
