I tried a bladder bag and hose thing and found it to be about as wonderful as being hooked up to an IV bag at the hospital.

I use 16 or 32 oz Nalgene bottles. Easy to use and easy to clean. And it screw directly onto my water filter if I need the filter.

Yup, slimline camelback here as well.  Mine has two small pouches on it to carry survival essentials and first aid stuff.

I fill my stomach with water first, and carry 1qt army canteen on web belt or on my backpack.
Maddog Mountaineer 57# and Prairie Predator 52# Wow!, Samick Sage 35 - 60#,  I'm learning.

I always carry a hydration bladder, and if I am out all day sometimes a small bottle of gatorade for electrolyte replacement.

You need to drink small quantities often during the day to stay hydrated, drinking alot of water and heading off for the day is counter productive it will flush alot of the good stuff (electrolytes) out of your system. Your body can only absorb so much fluid at a time.
