I have not seen the 3Rivers tube, but I can recommend a fly rod case.  I bought one at a flea market and it has been great for protecting bows during travel.

I have one, for 1 piece longbow. It`a simple PVC tube with cordura nylon suit. It has some  No more then 20-30$ value

Just purchased the recurve travel case from 3 rivers and it is well made and can accommodate 2 stickbows.  The weight is acceptable also.  Diameter is 6 inches. If you were to use a 6" dia, PVC pipe, it would certainly suffice but it would be much heavier.

I bought one for my Longbow years ago. The tube is not as heavy duty as PVC but I never had a crushing issue. The ends were poorly constructed though and were not hardened. Eventually I could feel my longbow tip in the ends which is no good.

I bought a Flambeau Bazuuka Pro for $69 last year to carry my 58" one piece recurve to Kauai. Very heavy duty and expandable to accommodate longer bows or rods. It is lockable and large enough on the interior to pack your arrows in as well although I did not.

I obviously think there are better and more affordable options.
