Carbon Suggestions Please

I got my wife starting to shoot.  I need to get her some arrows to help her out as much as I can, instead of shooting mine which are too heavy.  She is shooting a SAMIC longbow 40# @ 28" . She draws 27" and the bow measured 35# @27" on my scale.  I tried some Beman ICS 400 arrows with 4" parabolic fletching.  They flew pretty good with 145gr points, but I tried bare-shafting one and @ about 17 yds it seemed to fly ok ,but at about 20yds it curved at the last second and went to the left of the whole hog target!!!! This was repeated about four out of five times.  It is difficult for me to shoot her bow at her shorter draw and get any meaningfull info.  I draw 29 1/2".  I tried point weights of 90 gr, 125, 145, and 152gr.  The 152 gr did the best over all but it was the one that went to the left, so I wonder if 160 gr would do better?  The Bemans are cut 29 7/8" from string groove to BOP.  She has been shooting well considering she never shot a bow before a month ago and she's shooting arrows too heavy and not meant for her outfit so to speak.  I'm proud of her and want to encourage her. Thinking carbons will be best.  Your thoughts? Thanks for your help.  Bill

Those are far to stiff for her.
try a 500 and leave it long, add 100 gr brass inserts and points from 175 up.

At that bow weight I would suggest 600 spine carbons or 1816 aluminum.  There are various "youth" carbons available from GT and others that would be great and they are not expensive.  I think 500s would be too stiff and that you would want about 400 grain total weight.

These arrows I describe are verysimilar to what I set up my twins 35 pound recurves with.

I draw about the same draw length and poundage as your wife.  What works is either 500 spine carbons (full length) with 100 grain brass inserts, or 600 spine carbons (cut to 28") with regular inserts.  Both with 125 gr tips.  3Rivers sells Epic 600's.

GT Entrada 600's I bet will fly really good.  Might be light for a hunting arrow.  I'd leave them full length.

What eagle said and ya can cut them to 29"s and use around 175 grains up front and they will fly for her. Shawn

As an aftertought, ya might want to try some Carbon Express "Thunderstorm SE" shafts. They are made for "youth" bows of 25# to 40# and only 29" full length.  They are sharp looking and tough, and not too expensive. Leave them full length and play with different point weights...
