Hi all

Just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on where to obtain a darker blue feather. The trueflight is too light for my purpose.

Failing that, has anyone had any experience in dyeing feathers?

Cheers

Jase, I recently got some blue fletchings from Kustom King Traditional Archery.  I would call them a medium dark blue......nice color.  They are not like a blue/black navy but a deep royal blue. The ones I got were their Bearpaw fletchings.  Maybe Kustom King would send you a sample.

I have some barred turkey feathers that are dark blue.  How many are you needing? I think they are Right wing.

Hi Trap,

That is very kind of you to offer, I was going to go for the union jack component of the Australian Flag, so wasn't intending using barred feathers.

Thanks once again.

I think these will be just the ticket! Many thanks

Choose a sponsor here who sells AMG Feathers. Their blue is the darkest I've seen. Probably exactly what your looking for.

Friends call me Pac

Here is what I use

1 pint rubbing alchol
1 pack rit dye powder (Royal Blue)

Dump dye into alchol, shake up

Hold feather with needle nose pliers and submerge inside bottle.  Remove and lay feather on newspaper or clothespin to a line and let it fry.

Fast, easy & very cheap.  Works on natural feathers and of course white

THanks for the info guys, I purchased the Bear Paw ones and will see how they look, I should have enough whites to dye if needed or even re-dye the blue ones.

I did look at the AMG ones and they appear to be a sky blue when I view on my computer - I am hoping the Bear Paw ones are a bit darker, but will have to see when they arrive in a couple of weeks.
