You guys that are hunting turkeys without blinds what are your setups that worked? Strategy, Decoys, camo, etc..

I'm seriously thinking about ditching the camo and maybe the decoys. I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.   :banghead:

I hunt big woods mostly and the turkey population is good in the area.    :archer:
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Here we go, lol! I know another guy that will probably try this

WESTBROOK

I was 2" low of being succesfull at it last year.

Find where they are roosting and where they are headed when they come down and setup some where along the way. Blind or not you will need some sort of cover to setup in or a Ghili suit.

Iwas just backedup against a 20' whitepine with limbs to the ground with a small bush in front of me wearing an Asbell wool pullover, no decoy.

Came by at 12yds....never knew I was there till the arrow skinned his chest.

Its a tough game to say the least, but a lot of fun.

I shot mine last year by backing up against a big tree with a sweetgum top laid in front of me for breakup. I aleo try to set up on the backside of a small rise with my jake decoy on my side of the rise near the top. When the gobbler comes over to the decoy, I will be ready to shoot withmy bow already in the draw position. This is the time of year I will start making natural blinds in the areas I hunt whether on public or private land,

What Westbrook said. Set up where the birds will come through, do not make a call or the game will begin, you want them to come through NOT looking for a hen but under natural movement and then you can get away with more movement as well. I wish I had an area with enough birds to play like that you are lucky indeed.

Be my 1st year  to try with out the blind this spring, just need to find one that wants to die, is my tactic, sure it will be a goat roping for me this spring.
