I've always been a longbow guy, so I'm very curious; what is a 50's style recurve?  Could someone maybe post a photo of one and a modern one and maybe point out the differences?  I did pick up a vintage Bear Kodiak Magnum at a garage sale a couple years ago.  Would that be 50's style?

tarponnut

Kohannah Kurve(that's what I'm hunting with lately), Northern Mist Ottowa, Mahaska recurve.
50's style bows are my personal favorite.

Biathlonman

Hawken1911, think longbow grip with recurve tips.  Light bows without the mass of later models.

LEWIS VADEN

Whippenstick Inferno.  Quite & fast.

For a 50's style recurve, or any of his bows for that matter.... Kens bows are tough to beat. I'd highly recommend them.  Kirk

Bill Foreman at Great Plains makes a nice one,and I think the one piece that Chris Sparks at Lewis Hollow Archery makes is considered a 50's style recurve.

Fellow knuckle draggers.  Which one would you choose with a 31" DL?

khardrunner

64" Kohannah Kurve. Hands down the quietest recurve I have ever shot.

McCullough 59'er if you are lucky enough to find a used one in the weight you want.  A pretty long wait last I saw for a new one.

Roberston Peregrine is a really nice bow too.  I had one several years ago and stupidly sold it.

You will not find anything quieter or faster than rer retro. I love the slim design and light weight!  I also have A kota killum and a checkmate falcon - both good shooters - a bit meatier if you want a bit more weight.

My wish list includes chinook, mojostick, and holm-made rr.

Lots of nice ones out there!  Good luck.
Enjoy the hunt!  - Mitch
