I explained to my friend about his Pearson bows and that he was not sitting on a pot of gold.  He decided that he might as well start shooting the Javelina again (much to my delight) he gave me the Spectre for my boy Colin.  The trouble is there are no strings for either, I need help finding strings for both the Spectre is 52" and the Javelina is 66" any help would be appreciated, all the best, Joe

For recurves a general rule of thumb is you want a string 4 inches shorter than the length marked on the bow. I would recommend contacting one of the sponsors here who makes strings and ask them. That way you will get the correct string the first time.

Note that FastFlight was introduced in 1986 and it is a crap-shoot whether earlier bows will hold up to the use of it as a string material.

When in doubt use B-50 or B-55 (Dacron).

Lots of guys get away with using it, but some don't.  If a particular design was overbuilt for Dacron in may be OK . . . unless it had a few incedents like days in a hot car or dry-fireings that stressed/weakened it previously.

Thanks folks ! Great suggestion, I have seen a few of the sponsors on here and will be asking them for a little help and put an order in.  These are early to mid seventies bows so fast flight is probably out, I am with you on the Dacron, all the best to you, Joe
