My nephews son loves to hunt and fish anything outdoors. My nephew had a Maddog longbow made for him when he was 10 or 11,45@28 and he was probably pulling 20-23 inches when he got the bow. Fast forward to now he's grown a great deal either 13 or 14 I'm not sure. He's been after his dad to get him a compound as grip wise he's outgrown the Maddog yet he shoots it well enough. Tonight he went out around 5:30 to sit a stand I have adjacent to one of the many food plots I have on my property. I was cooking a meatloaf in a Dutch Oven outside and his dad and I were relaxing, enjoying the smell of the meat cooking. We finished cooking and ate our meal, fresh greens I picked from my food plots, pintos, cornbread and the aforementioned meatloaf. I stepped out on my backporch  and heard him holler. When I saw him he hollered he'd just shot a deer. We got on my tractor and rode over to the pasture thinking we needed to find the deer before dark. He showed us where he'd shot the deer and said he'd heard it go down. The blood trail was exceptional it really bled out. He had put a great shot on it.That Maddog had just about shot a pass through and we didn't go far before finding the bloody arrow that pulled out the other side. The yearly doe hadn't gone 30 yards and you talk about an excited boy. He has finally gained confidence in his traditional bow and I don't think we'll hear any more compound talk. Maybe a new grizzly or even another Maddog.
