Call it instinctive, memory conditioning ,muscle memory through repetitive practice, ETC. or what ever, it still amazes me how the brain goes into auto pilot when the shot presents itself. No thinking, no gauging distance, no thought of holding higher or lower, it just happens, and ZAP!, youve made meat.
All the sights and gadgets in the world will ever replace the amazing ability of the finest computer out there, the human brain. Through practice, and repetition you develop hand eye coordination, that cant be compared or equaled.
Even though it takes hrs. of practice and shooting, in a hunting situation does it get any better than traditional archery, using the finest computer ever devised? I think not.
Call it what you will, but its hard to beat.

If I could only get mine to quit second guessing itself sometimes   :banghead:

Agreed, that shot that surprises you when it goes off and surprises you more when it hits the mark.  It's beautiful poetry

I agree totally! When I am practicing I can tell you almost every time what went wrong on a bad shot. When hunting the shot just happens. I am on automatic mode and usually can't tell you a thing about the shot. I think part of the reason is I am so concentrated on "the spot".

I remember thinking "Holy Crap! I got another one!" a few times...

It's amazing how it happens sometimes.   :archer2:

That is exactly what happened to me this past saturday when I took my first Trad buck.  I remember saying to my self that I am not going to mess this up and the next thing the arrow is on its way and hits its mark.  That was poetry in motion to say the least.

Yep, always get a kick out of the wheelie bow guys on TV that miss a deer then turn to the camera and say "I didn't have time to range him". Gadgets will never be better then hard work!

Its a great feeling to see your fletching sticking out of the spot you were aiming at.
About 3 weeks ago I shot a good size pig. I picked a spot on the shoulder and let go. The arrow hit the spot and went clean through, Im still excited about it.
