Shipping to Australia

Any one have any suggestions on reasonably priced ways to ship bows to Australia

I recently shipped an M-58 bow to Australia that cost more for shipping than the cost of the bow. A 5 pound package was over $260.00 by UPS. It would have cost just about the same if I had shipped 10 bows in the same box.

best rate i found was usps but they had a length limatation of mid 60" i believe, but my 66" longbow went for around $50.00

The USPS has a max length of 60" to ship Internationally.I checked a price to Austrailia for a 66" one-piece longbow and it was around $175 more then 5 years ago.If it would be a T/D I would ship USPS.If not you will have to use a different shipper.I shipped a 70" longbow to France,I had to ship UPS and it was $122 more then 6 years ago.I also shipped a T/D recurve the same year to Austria and used USPS and it was $44 because it was under 60" so I could use the post office.

I recently got a quote for a one piece longbow earlier this year and it was $250. The takedowns, including a 2 piece bow bolt system ranges from $45 - $70. All through USPS.

If the package is over 60" you can not ship it USPS.  I've heard of USPS employees letting them by but the letter of the law is 60" max.

So then your stuck with FedEX or UPS.  I usually bundle 3or more in a pack to send to our dealer in Norway.

Any time iv had them shipped I get a 2 or 3 pc and it's around $50 iv even had a few converted to 2pc coz it cost less then trying to fed x one over I have a mate that told me of a mob that is very cheep but I can never rember who they r

USPS for overseas. Never any issues, easy, lowest price. Only have shipped take downs though. Length thing can kill ya.

Recently tried to ship a bow to a young man in Australia .
The quote from USPS quote was not too bad around $50.
But when I tried to mail it they dug deeper and the mail in Australia will only deliver,up to 42 inches.
UPS and Fed will,deliver but over $200.

USPS Priority Mail. I've shipped a couple takedowns to Australia. I wouldn't want to ship a one piece bow unless it is really short. I don't know about the 42" limit down there, but 60" is it here for overseas stuff.

I have a 62" Toelke whip coming soon - woohoo. I think Dan said the shipping will be $185. He seems a very stand up guy so I imagine this is on the money. I had a 52" Kodiak Magnum for the Mrs with a whole bunch of other stuff from 3 rivers delivered for $120 over 2 parcels via USPS but this was a much shorter bow. This 3 Rivers price was the cheapest of 3 options they gave me. THe next was $350 and the most expensive was something like $500. THe cheapest (non boat) option arrived in 10 days!

In sending to Australia it doesn't really matter which service you use as long as it leaves the US fast and doesn't go via Mongolia or other stops on a big round circuit. Once the parcel arrives in Oz the it will be sent through customs and then onto the destination quickly (unless as someone said their is snakeskin or other prohibited skins)

So what I am saying is pay for express but don't bother paying for the 3 day services as it wont make much difference in getting to the buyer faster.  Go for the 7-10 day or over.

USPS is telling me nothing longer than 48" can be shipped now. UPS is is pushing 250.00 and up depending on the exact weight and length Fed EX was a few dollors cheaper

This doesn't help you, but I was able to ship some of the Asbell books to Australia USPS for $10

The goofy thing is that USPS ships it's stuff over seas via UPS in containers.

Takedown is the way to go if shipping out of country.

Legends 1, did you actually ship a long one piece for this price?
That is what I was quoted and looked up on line.
When I got to the P.O. They pulled out a little book that gives them restrictions at each international destination.
Thus the 42 inch restriction.
Just trying to get some clarification .

$50 for a takedown, no problem. A one piece measuring over 52" then I doubt it very much. Happy to be proven wrong though.
