I use the Ben's repellent in the orange bottle. It's 100% DEET. Works great and doesn't stink. Just dont get it on your lips...they will go numb    :jumper:

Maybe you should consider treating your outer clothes layer with permethrin, the military has been doing it for years, I've used it on a recent trip and it works extremely well.

Deet works well to keep bugs away , but the stuff is poison and really bad for you, Really bad!

Aeroguard works great has no deet. whatever is in it is prob not that good either though.

We hunt a lot of area's with bad Malaria from the Mozzies, trick is to keep well covered, so that you limit the amount of skin you need to cover, ie just hands and face.

X2 for Ben's, has always worked well. Also, if you will be stagionary, I recently discovered the ThermaCELL. I've had good luck with it while sitting.

I agree with the permethrin to treat your clothes and then carry a thermacell.  Last few years I have avoid the use of anything with deet in it.

Wish I would have started using Permethrin years ago. Amazing stuff.
This stuff ain't no rocket surgery science!

Another thing, research has proven that deet about30% is just as effective as 100%  with less of the bad effects like melting your watch strap off    :scared:    :scared:

Bens 99.9 put me in the hospital for a night.  Bad stuff!!!

Now I'm sensitized and break out into a sweat using regular off 14%.

It's second nature to run to a can of bug juice.   Be warned it can bite ya in the keester.   It happened fly fishing for me.

Tradtusker, here is a quote from wikipedia

"The active ingredient in Aerogard is N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide (DEET)"

DEET is still the best skin chemical.  I tried the other stuff living in AK for 4 years.  DEET is it.  3m makes a lotion that is 38% deet and that's enough.  Permethrin is key.  You need to treat all your clothes before you go.  Thermacell also works great.

Check this out. I bought some to try when I saw it at this years Hunter's Extravaganza. So far I've had good luck with it, seems to work well. Haven't actually hunted while wearing it, but seems it would be a great cover scent as well as long as cedar is native to the area you are hunting.  http://www.cedarcreekcamo.com/products/c3-cedar-oil-1
