Well ya'll this was my actual first time in the woods stumpshooting. most of my stump shooting takes place shooing at tennis, and soccer balls or dandelions.... well anything in my yard really. So I took the kids and Mama out to my hunting property for a walk and to do some stumping.  Max has a Samick Angel and I brought my Northern Mist Huron. It was  a fabulous time.

this is max.

Here is one of the ladder stands

Max and a two yarder on an osage apple

all smiles after a hit with the team

we did some clearing, otherwise there is no way to get thru this property that is full of Black Locus, Osage, multiflora rose and the like.

Now this was very impressive. Max told me he was going to shoot that stick (fallen branch). 5 yards back. BAM BAM dead on it. And I don't know who was more excited.

Again cause I'm a proud papa

I hope you enjoy. I think I have a few more floating around ill get too.

Congrats! It's weird to say but I can't wait to have kids to experience this for myself. Where at in Illinois are you located?

Looks like a fun time, for sure!

I am in collinsville.  Its actually about 15 miles from downtown St. Louis, Mo.  Fun it was for sure.

JB, its not weird at all.  My hunting has taken a toll downhill, as in i did not hunt once last year, and only 3 days the year before, but it is worth it for sure. One day they will be big enough  and I will be able to resume hunting, and hopefully with two new partners.

That right there are the moments I live for myself. My son who is 3 1/2 yrs old helped me build a new string the other day. I love every moment of it just like you are. I'm glad you put the name of your sons recurve on there. I'm going to look into upgrading his little bow. Thanks for sharing the future of sport. Brian

Brian,

Max is 3 1/2 also, and if he would actually draw it back to anchor he would probably get some finger pinch going on. Its only 36" i think. but its 20lbs at 24".  he likes it a lot because it "look like a real bow".  But I do think by time he is 4 1/2 ill have to get him a longer one. Im not sure yet.  It does fling an arrow really good.
Plus it came with the quiver, and 3 wood arrows and a bow case for about $64.

Charlie Lamb,
Can you PM me why some of the photos were taken off?  I checked and they are all 640.  Is there a format issue?

They were too big bud. Double check them and I'll look at them again.

I had never really done much either but lately when I've been out deer/elk hunting I'll find a place and do some stump shooting to loosen up.  I'm enjoying it and looking forward to taking my son next year.  He's quite a bit older than your boy but he lives with his mom and just recently decided he wanted to try his hand at traditional archery.

Max thinks it is cool that he is on TradGang.  I showed him the post this morning after church.
