when innitially picking out arrows for a certain weight bow, how much over the bows actual weight do you pick an arrow spine to start with? I know you need to shoot a bow quite a bit with different  weight arrows to find what it likes best, but what is a good general starting point??
Why cant it be simple??  IE...55# bow= 55# arrow?    ;)

Hello,

Was never simple here either ^^

Lets say its like women ...

Well all 55# bows are not the same.  The distance from or past center the rest is cut changes how stiff or weak an arrow you need. Next is it a recurve, RD, longbow.  FF string or B50.  Do you draw longer or shorter than 28".  Glass backing or all wood.  Wood cores or carbon or foam.  I could go on and on.  The simple answer is its too complicated to be simple.

this is only my method, I start with 10#'s over the bow weight. I shoot heavy bows and full length (30" draw)arrows(wood only), so my point weight is what I adjust not the length. Stu's spine calculator is your best bet.

I imagine the 3 Rivers folk can help best..............it depends a lot on the side cut of the riser etc as others have already said. Best to call 3 Rivers yourself if you want to help your friend.
