One finger, big difference

Switched to 3 under while tuning my bow and all I can say is WOW! I instantly noticed a huge improvement in my groups. Don't know why and don't care either. It works for me.

Interesting.  I've been thinking about doing the same thing when my new string arrives and I finish my ask woodies.

Did you change your anchor point?  Are you using the shaft/point for aiming?

my shooting went from a 6 to a 9 after this too.I switched 20 years or so ago...but ill never forget the immediate improvement.I also found improvements with anchoring with my bottom finger of the three.the knock of the arrow is directly under my eye.....no room for draw hand to wander off.

I think mostpeople see an improvement at close range because it moves the arrow closer to their eye. I also think most people see a decline in their distance shooting for the same reason.

When I started shooting trad bows I shot split fingers. Then a friend had me try 3 under and I never went back to split fingers.

I've gone back and forth... I noticed a tightening in my groups with 3-under, but I also noticed a lot more bow noise (guess my bow isn't tillered that way). 3 under also pinched my ring finger and I  started developing a pretty good bone spur, so I switched back to split.

I am a month ago, changed the style and moved to three under. Ankor I dropped, my feather in line with the nose. I changed the style for two reasons.
First I have a tendon injury in the middle finger
Second I bought a cd from Rick Welch
I improved the accuracy by 70%, and the distance at which I have accurate

I shoot my recurve 3 under but when 3 under I move my anchor down so the arrow nock is located same as split.  The accuracy gets greater the more distance.  3 under does not have to mean closer to eye.

Yes, but only by default. When shooting split, my index finger rested on the top lip because my fingers would not allow the nock to enter the crease of my lips. Now, with three under, the nock hits the crease for a better "fit".  
At last light, I shot 3 more groups of five. Due to the low light, I was forced to concentrate a bit more. OUTSTANDING groups. Bow season begins here on September 8th. I'll be out there slinging arrows every chance I get before then.

Everybody is different.

I've shot both split finger and 3 under and I shoot much, much better with split finger and gave up on 3 under over 45 years ago.
