I have been thinking about crafting my own leather quiver for hunting.  I was wondering what yall did for the inside bottom holding a bunch of broadheads and game nabbers.  Is it necessary to line it with something.  I was also thinking about modeling the bottom something like the Shrew Edge (i think its called).  I hate to steel ideas but I just like crafting myself.  Just trying to figure something out for the season and keeping the heads sharp.  Thanks.

When I used a back quiver I made some leather covers for my broadheads and they worked pretty well.

I just put a small pice of leather in the bottom an add about 2-3 inches of rice your arrows wont rattle an slide out quietly.good luck.

And if you get lost, you have 3 meals with you.  :D

But, seriously, rice? How do you keep it from spilling out when you lean over and dump all your arrows on the ground?

Ed,
We could add some andouille sausage, onion, garlic, tomatoes and Texas Pete hot sauce and have gumbo for lunch at noon.

Just add another thickness of leather to the bottom of the quiver.  That's all you need to do. If your quiver is made right, your arrows won't move around and they will stay as sharp as with any other quiver.  I know people have a hard time believing this but give it a try.

Gordon is absolutely right.  If a quiver has to have rice, beans, or oats poured in to quieten and protect arrows/broadheads, it wasn't made right from the right stiffness of leather.  I only put a piece of carpet in the bottom to protect the bottom leather from sharp tips.

I obviously double up the leather with a heavy 10 oz. plus weight on the inside. Then I put a piece of UNSHORN sheep hide over that. The long wool lets the broadheads sink into it and keeps them from rattling around. The edges dont dull either. At least not enough that they dont still shave hair at the end of the season.

I use carpet in the bottom of my "Hill style" quiver.  I cut a piece of plastic so the BH will not go through the bottom and put the carpet over that on the inside.
