received my August/September issue of TBM and was pleased to see an interview with Marvin Breeden of Virginia, done by Brad Isham.  I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Brad and Marvin at the Baltimore Bowmen Traditional Classic in May, and they are both the epitome of true "southern gentlemen".  It is a great interview, and would like to thank Brad, Marvin, and TBM....

Marvin and me at Baltimore:

A picture I took of Marvin....felt converting it to black and white was only fitting:

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Just read the article. Sounds like a great guy! The story about the grouse was pretty cool. I'm a falconer and it was neat to read that Marvin learned both archery and falconry from Al Nye.I've never heard anything but good about Mr.Nye,so learning from him must have been great!

Met Marvin at the GLLI many years ago....think it was at Marshall, MI that year? Didn't even own a longbow then, just went up to look around. Fred Asbell loaned a Bighorn Ramhunter longbow, a hand full of arrows and introduced me to Marvin and Tom Parsons. Quite lucky to have had those two gentlemen to introduce me to the joys of the longbow! Great article about a fine gentleman! Mike
