Looking to apply for a job in the Davenport area and wanted to see if there was any TGrs in the area.  Also would like to know if there are clubs etc around.  Am looking at the hunting regs to see what the deal is there.

Gonna miss Alaska, but need to move closer to family with health issues.

Thanks in advance,

Hi Nick,
I'm from Cedar Rapids, Iowa which is about 80 miles west of Davenport... Not sure on specific traditional archery clubs but there are definitely archery clubs. I've got several friends in the Davenport area, plenty of good people and good hunting! Wish I were headed to Alaska :-) Hope your transition goes well and you & your family's health concerns restore for the best!

Travis,
Been doing some research, looks like a great place. Heck 80 miles won't be a problem, it's 85 miles to the nearest mcdonalds from my place. I'll give you a shout if I get the job.

I`m about 70 miles south of Davenport. I will be in Davenport next Sunday. Davenport Valley Archers are having a traditional shoot next weekend.   Tom

Good luck on the job search.

Nick,
I am about 1 1/2 hours SW of Davenport.  We used to get over to the Quad Cities quite a bit, but not so much the last couple years.  Always willing to meet up and shoot, though.  I am sorry I can help you with the clubs in the area.  I grew up south of the Quad Cities on the IL side, about 45 miles down river.  Some great hunting all around there.  Good luck with the job hunt!

Morning Star

Davenport Valley Archers have an all traditional shoot later this month.  I'm 30 mi North of Davenport, if you have any questions, feel free to PM.

Live 8 miles east of Davenport but am sort of anti social/clubs. Have lived here nearly 7 years and don't go to shoots though I here there are plenty around. Haven't been to a shoot in nearly 10 years-just not my cup of tea.

30 days of established residence plus drivers license and register to vote gets you resident privlidges.

Hey there Nick! Welcome to the Davenport area! Davenport Valley Archers is definitely a club I have been wanted to get involved in. I usually just stump around my own land. If you have any questions about game/regulations/season give me a holler.

Thanks for all the information everyone.  Applying for the job this week.  Not sure how long the process will take, you know govt moves quickly (LOL).

Up here traveling 3-4 hours to hunt is the norm, so I figure that gives me pretty much the entire state of IA to hunt if public land is available.  Will definately let you know how the job prospect goes.

I'm kind of excited about the prospect of moving back to the midwest, born and raised in southern Indiana.
