For most of my longbows, hill bows included I love 450+.  However, on my OWL and my Shrew Hill, I have B50 and really like that as well.

If the bow is fast flight capable then I use fast flight plus. If the bow is not rated for fast flight than I use B 50.

My Hills are 40-50 lbs and I use a 3 bundle, 15 strand, flemish, Dacron B-50 bowstring. Works for me....

You do know there is a thread here that takes in everything Hill bow. Lots of great information from the guys who live there lives with that style bow.

I've used D97,450+ and now I have been using 8190 for my Hill's.I'm really like the new 8190 string material, small diameter strands and very strong. And has made a quiet and great string on my Hill's and some of my other bows.

Assuming your bow has reinforced nocks (fastflight capable) and you put a FF skinny string on it you will notice a substantial reduction in vibration (hand shock) and a quieter shot.  Some people claim it also increases speed - I can't confirm that.

I have an 8 strand FF 8125 on two LBs (55 and 57 lbs) and an 8 strand FF D10 on two LBs (60 and 48 lb) and a 6 strand FF D 10 on one (44 lb).

I had a HH Big Five that would rattle my teeth with the B50 string that came with it.  Put an 8 strand 8125 on it and reduced the vibration in the riser by at least 80%.

Just my experience YMMV.

Pretty much any low strand count FF is better than Dacron, IMO.

That has been my experience also....and yes my arras are plenty heavy.

Try some ultra cam at 9 strands if you can find it, or some XS2 at 12 strands.

Be sure the loops on the ultra cam are padded to at least 15 strands (18 is best).

Be sure the loops on the XS2 are padded to 21 strands

If you take this advice, you don't have to thank me later, cuz I'm happy to help. 8^)

P.S.

That's assuming your bow is capable of using fast flight strings.

B-50 for me, it has served me well for many yrs, and old habits die hard. For me personally, I figure if it aint broke, why fix it?
