How do you guys prefer to straighten wood arrows that are finished. I like to use the tool that ace archery makes to straighten shafts before I cap crest and dip them but hate to use it on a finished arrow due to fear it will marr the finish. So how do you experts do it?

Grey Taylor

Once it is coated the only method I've used is to bend it over my hand.

I roll them on a broadhead aligner to find were its bent then straighten by hand

I use a screwdriver and strike opposite to the bending.
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

SBD strings on all, what else?

Ace Roller Straightener. Not had a problem with marred finish. I dip my arrows in Minwax wipe-on Poly. Toughest finish I have found yet.

I use a home made roller board to spin test for straightness.

Overspined

A brass hook. Doesn't mess the finish or flatten it. Right over Fletches too

I hand straighten them and have used the Ace Roller Straightener with no problem with marring the finish. Just be careful not to use too much pressure when going over your cresting with it.

My hands have always worked as good as anything.

Ace Roller Straight for me too guys. Never messed up an arrow with this tool. As a matter of fact I usually push too hard and bend the arrow too far and crook it the opposite way it was, Ughhhh ! It only takes a little pressure fellers ! Doesn't get much use these days though since switching to Surewood's Doug Fir. The so called "premium " cedars I bought before were junk compared to Surewoods. No more cedars for me unless they are bonafide ACME's made before I was born in the 60's. JMHO
